Westcoastsession Sardinia

This day seemed to be a nice surfing day in small waves but luckily it changed into a nice sideshore  windsurfsession with only two more locals and me on the water!
When the wind started it was only two hours before sunset. I was a bit tired of surfing before quite long, and my hands were burning from some fire jellyfish contact but a local guy animated me to get in anyway. Fast I rigged my 4,7 Firelight ,which is actually converting into my favorite sail ever!
In this session I went once straight on the reef with my stuff and it was quite a scary moment.              I thought "Thats it, my beautiful sail is gone".
But I was happy to see just some small holes in the mast pocket and nothing more, uffff.

"Sunset Reef "

The second day of the mistral I went to have a session on a special place I also discovered two years ago! Since this spot wasnt named yet , I did it, and from now on the spot has the name "Sunset Reef", because here you can see stunning sunsets!
It is a reef  nearly 1000 meters outside in the ocean, and if the Great White really exists in the mediterranean sea, for sure its chilling right there!!!
From the coast it looks easy, but when you are alone out there the perspective changes and it gets a little bit scary!!
Here the mistral comes on-side-on from the right and in the face of the wave you have no wind at all!! So the only thing what I could do with this wind direction is to cross the point hoping to get the left at the right moment and go backside down the line and have a nice "Mediterranean Big Wave Experience"!!
Its not so great like it would be with side-off but its "Better-than-nothing".
Back in 2010 I tried to attack the lip but the wave just snacked me and I thought:"nice wipeout" being almost 15 seconds under the water and having to recover my material about 200 meters away from where I was!
In that year I saw it breaking with nearly 8 meters after three days of mistral but, this year, this was the biggest so far! On this session I was using my 4.7 Firelight !!
In two weeks comes a good friend of mine around and together we will search for more big wave sessions, hoping to sail some secrets I have on my mind.
So stay tuned and rip it hard!!!!!!

La Punta septembersession

After sweating and working the hole summer without being on the water the Mistral came along for 2 days and brought some waves. It was time for me to visit a spot I discovered in 2010.
La Punta is a heavy wavespot with the wind onsideon from the left and no beach at all. This day I was alone on the spot getting brutalized  by winds upto 40 knots. But trimmed down my smallest sail I had, the Firelight 4.5 allowed me to surf for 2 hours until I was done!

Firelight session Funtana Meiga and Chia may 2012

Before our wintertrip could start we had to work over the summer in Sardinia and I was lucky to get some wind and waves before the work started.

Funtana Meiga is a great Mistral spot with sideshore wind from the right and a nice reef, where the waves break over 300 meters long. Perfect to jump and go down the line! This day I used my new Firelight 4.5 for the first time and got stoked about this superlight sail!

The second  great spot is Chia, which with Schirocco transforms into a beautiful sidesideon wavesspot with wind from the left. This playground is surrounded by awesome nature with small mountains.

And when the wind is gone, Sardinia offers some solid surf, too... here getting a tuby section on a secret spot  :)
